Sirvientes de Cristo has a long-standing relationship with Fr. Abel del Pilar Perez, a priest of the Order of the Brothers of Bethlehem, who serves as the pastor of the Catholic community in La Granja.

Fr. Abel, a native of Aragon, Spain, has lived with and served the poor in La Granja for more than thirty years. In addition to his pastoral duties, he operates the Casa de Belén (House of Bethlehem), through which he has served the people of La Granja.

Some of Fr. Abel’s efforts in this regard have included:

• Operating a Catholic elementary school
• Caring for the elderly
• Feeding the hungry
• Offering room, board, and spiritual formation to young men discerning the priesthood or religious life
• Offering religious instruction to barrio residents

Sirvientes de Cristo continues to rely on the guidance of Fr. Abel. He serves on our Honduran advisory board, and the Casa de Belén hosts our missionaries during their two-week stays in La Granja.
